Winter Backcountry Ski Class enrollment for 2019 opens Nov 01

Applications for the 2019 Winter Backcountry Ski Class opens Nov 1!

More information about the class is here:

And application instructions are here:

We really like to have friends of instructors and former students in the class — it’s the easiest way for us to make sure that we’ll end up with good people who are a good fit for the class. So if you know anyone who you think would be a good fit, please invite them to apply!

Note that applications are due by November 30. Payment will be due upon acceptance.
New this year is that applicants must have taken AIARE 1, or an equivalent Avy Level 1 course, within the last five years.
The most common question we’ve been getting is:   Can I take AIARE 1 this winter and still take the class?   Yes, but you must complete your AIARE 1 before our first class lecture on January 22nd.
The second most common question:  What if I spend the money to take AIARE 1 this winter but don’t get into the WAC class?   Taking AIARE 1 is going to be worthwhile for your winter recreation career regardless of whether you take the WAC class.  Applicants who don’t get into the class this year will get preference if they re-apply next year.
Happy autumn, pray for pow!
